Communal Cleaner

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Communal Cleaner to carry out cleaning duties across various properties and sites.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Undertake cleaning of communal entrances, stairwells, corridors, bin stores, and other areas as per the cleaning specification. Tasks include sweeping, vacuuming, washing floors, walls, ceilings, doors, and fixtures; cleaning internal windows (using ladders if required); litter picking; graffiti removal; carpet cleaning; and installing signs and notice boards as needed.
• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard in accordance with cleaning specifications and health and safety requirements.
• Conduct fire risk assessments, check alarms and emergency lighting as per the scheduled programme for communal areas, and report any defects or changes.
• Organise workload efficiently to maximise productivity and effectiveness.
• Ensure all necessary cleaning materials are available before starting work and use them correctly. Maintain vehicle stock as required.
• Keep accurate records of materials used, time spent on tasks, and fuel consumption. Complete work tickets, timesheets, store requisitions, and other paperwork as required.
• Maintain the safety, security, and serviceability of all equipment, vehicles, tools, and materials.
• Undertake any other duties as required by the line manager in accordance with business needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

• Experience in a similar cleaning role, preferably within a housing or property management environment.
• Understanding of practical and technical aspects of communal area cleaning.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and mechanical cleaning equipment.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers.
