Site Manager (Small Works Contracts - Roofing Experience) - South Birmingham Area

Position: Site Manager
Location: South Birmingham
Employment Type: Full-time, Contract
Rate: Competitive, depending on experience

We are looking for an experienced Site Manager with a background in roofing to manage small works contracts across the South Birmingham area. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills and a background in the roofing industry, looking to oversee a range of residential and commercial projects. The role involves managing site operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee small works contracts, including roofing repairs, replacements, and installations.
  • Supervise and coordinate on-site activities, ensuring that work is completed efficiently, safely, and to specification.
  • Manage a team of roofing operatives and subcontractors, ensuring productivity and high standards of workmanship.
  • Monitor the progress of each project and ensure time lines and budgets are adhered to.
  • Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Prepare and maintain site records, including risk assessments, method statements, and daily reports.
  • Handle any issues or challenges that arise on-site promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure materials are ordered and delivered on time to maintain project schedules.
  • Ensure quality control and carry out final inspections to ensure work meets the required standards before handover.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager, with a focus on small works contracts.
  • Strong background in roofing, with hands-on experience in the installation and maintenance of different roofing systems (pitched, flat, etc.).
  • A solid understanding of construction processes, site management, and project delivery.
  • CSCS card (Site Manager level).
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
  • Experience managing teams and subcontractors on-site.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, particularly in the construction and roofing industries.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Full UK driving license and access to own transport.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to managing issues on-site.

Desirable Skills:

  • First Aid at Work qualification.
  • Experience with roofing specific certifications (e.g., NRFC, NVQ in Roofing).
  • Knowledge of building regulations and local authority requirements.
