My Client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Air Conditioning (AC) Engineer to join our Facilities Management team on a temporary to permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of air conditioning systems across the campus. This role is vital to ensuring a comfortable and conducive environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine maintenance on air conditioning systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and repair faults in HVAC systems, including air handling units, chillers, and split systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize system downtime and reduce repair costs.
- Installation:
- Install new air conditioning systems and components according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Upgrade and retrofit existing systems to improve efficiency and performance.
- System Monitoring:
- Monitor system performance and environmental conditions using building management systems (BMS).
- Adjust controls and settings to maintain optimal climate conditions within university buildings.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
- Stay updated with the latest industry standards and technologies.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other facilities management staff to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruption.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff and apprentices.
- Assist in the development of maintenance schedules and budgets.
Qualifications:
- Education and Certification:
- A relevant technical qualification in air conditioning or HVAC (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, City & Guilds).
- F-Gas certification or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Proven experience as an AC Engineer in a similar role, preferably within a large institutional setting.
- Experience with a variety of air conditioning systems, including VRF/VRV, split systems, and chillers.
