Position: Mobile Fabric Engineer
Location: Telford, TF3 4HX
Rate of Pay: £13.45 per hour (PAYE)
Working Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Mobile Fabric Engineer with a background in carpentry or joinery to join our team in Telford. The primary purpose of this role is to perform both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of fabric and limited engineering assets, ensuring all activities are completed safely, timely, and in accordance with contracted output specifications and Equans procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and repair floors, walls, ceilings, and roofs.
- Inspect and repair free-standing and fitted furniture.
- Inspect and clear drainage and gully systems.
- Inspect and replace luminaries.
- Inspect and repair doors (including fire doors), windows, and associated furniture.
- Painting, re-decorating, and hanging pictures/signs/notices.
- Assist engineering staff as required.
- Carry out ad-hoc activities supporting Equans and the Client team, including moves/changes.
- Ensure reactive tasks are completed and proactively highlight areas for improvement.
- Manage consumables and provide parts lists and timescales for remedial works.
- Complete all relevant paperwork/CAFM for planned and reactive activities promptly.
- Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safe working practices.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with all members of the Engie staff, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Maintain plant rooms in a clean and tidy condition.
- Supervise and monitor subcontractors performing associated fabric tasks.
- Provide holiday and sickness cover as needed and be flexible in working patterns.
- Undertake lone working as required, subject to satisfactory training.
- Ensure awareness and compliance with contractual KPIs/SLAs.
- Keep the CAFM system updated and ensure PPM and reactive tickets are accurately closed out.
- Support the Helpdesk by reporting and updating planned and reactive activities.
- Be available for out-of-hours call-out support if required.
- Gain technical appointments as needed (e.g., LVCP, Water Hygiene CP) and perform related activities (e.g., tap flushing).
- Produce Condition/Dilapidation Reports for fabric assets.
- Immediately inform the supervisor of any dangerous circumstances.
Compliance & SHEQ Responsibilities:
- Comply with requests for information from the SHEQ manager.
- Work according to company health and safety policies.
- Ensure PPE is safe to use and report any accidents or near misses promptly.
- Maintain calibrated test equipment and follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works.
Requirements:
- Relevant experience in carpentry, joinery, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of fabric maintenance and engineering assets.
- Immediate availability to start.
