Position Overview: We are currently seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Engineer to join our dedicated team. As a Building Maintenance Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and upkeep of our diverse portfolio of properties, ranging from municipal buildings to community centres. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual with a strong technical background in building maintenance to contribute to the well-being of our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance tasks to identify and address issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and general building infrastructure.
- Perform repairs and renovations as necessary to maintain the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of council-owned properties.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, demonstrating a proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Collaborate with colleagues and external contractors to coordinate major maintenance projects and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, materials used, and any relevant documentation.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in building maintenance, preferably within a public sector or similar environment.
- Strong technical proficiency in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and general building maintenance techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, residents, and contractors.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and willingness to adhere to all relevant policies and procedures.
- Relevant trade qualifications or certifications would be advantageous.
